Disability Services
Axiom provides high-quality disability program and policy support services for government agencies and the private sector. Our disability-service core competencies, for both people with disabilities and disabled veterans, are divided into three main categories: employment, accessibility, and training.
Employment: Axiom team members are unsurpassed experts at assessing agencywide disability employment and reasonable accommodation requirements. With detailed knowledge of the Rehabilitation and Americans with Disabilities Acts, we are experts in disability employment programs and reasonable accommodation procedures. Axiom consultants work closely with the federal sector in its work to be the model employer of people with disabilities. Our CESSI Division team works closely with the Social Security Administration’s (SSA) Ticket to Work Program to recruit Employer Networks and improve outreach to the beneficiary community (SSA Program Manager for Recruitment & Outreach Contract). We also provide effective tools to rehabilitation specialists at the Military Treatment Facilities for integrating assistive technology for re-employment in the recovery and rehabilitation process for wounded service members.
Accessibility: Axiom teams fully understand both sides of the accessibility equation: individual accommodation and system accessibility. Disability accommodation specialists provide needs assessments to assist people in identifying the appropriate software and/or hardware for each individual. We provide support services to the DoD Computer/Electronic Accommodations Program (CAP) in its effort to fill more than 8,500 annual requests for accommodation. Our technical divisions, including Keymind and Didactics, also ensure the products we create—databases, websites, training programs, and more—are Section 508 compliant and usable by people with disabilities. (Also see Axiom's IM/IT capabilities.)
Training: Axiom professionals train thousands of people across the United States each year to increase their understanding of federal legislation, policies, and programs. These groups include federal employees and managers, educators, industry, and nonprofit representatives. We also have trainers onsite at Walter Reed Army Medical Center providing IT certification training to wounded warriors during their rehabilitation process. Our team produces the instructional materials needed to train employees with disabilities, IT staff, and help-desk attendants on the use of assistive technologies. Our CESSI Division is also nationally recognized for integrating accessibility and accommodation requirements throughout conference and event-management logistics. Our planners and trainers have a proven track record of client and customer satisfaction.
Axiom and our divisions have provided critical support to the Department of Defense Computer/Electronic Accommodations Program, HUD Assistive Technology Program, Department of Labor Central Office for Assistive Services and Technology, and SSA Office of Employment Support Programs, to name just a few.
Axiom’s commitment is clear: we seek to eliminate artificial barriers and help all people enjoy gainful employment, become independent, and achieve their full potential.
