Axiom Awarded National Registry Contract by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration

September 17 , 2004

Falls Church, VA . Axiom Resource Management, Incorporated, has won a contract to develop a "National Registry" for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. The contract is valued at $3.5 million and covers a three-year period. Manila Consulting Group, Inc., a consulting firm headquartered in McLean, Virginia, will serve as a subcontractor on the project.

This project will develop a program to train and certify the medical examiners who provide physical examinations for interstate truck drivers. There are established, national standards for these physical exams. However, Congress has mandated in the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, and Efficient Transportation Equity Act of 2003 (SAFETEA 2003) that the program create standards for medical examiners. The program will also create a National Registry, or list of medical examiners who have been trained and certified to perform the examinations. Truck drivers will find the Registry a convenient way to locate certified examiners.

"We're very excited to win this work," said Pat Brown, who will serve as Axiom's project director. "The congressionally mandated National Registry will improve the safety of our nation's highways, and provide better service for our truck drivers as well."

"Physical exams provided to truck drivers will meet common standards," added John Sheridan of Manila, "ensuring that all of America's long-distance truck drivers are physically qualified to do their job."

Axiom is a professional consulting firm providing program management, operational support, accessibility, and IT solutions. The firm delivers studies and analysis, web, marketing, distance learning, training, and conference support. Axiom also provides information clearinghouse/distribution services. Current clients include the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, TRICARE Management Activity, Federal Aviation Administration, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Kevin Riley, Axiom's Chief Financial Officer, noted the importance of this win in Axiom's history. "This is a breakthrough for Axiom," said Riley. "We take pride in delivering a variety of well-integrated services to our clients, and the National Registry will give us the opportunity to deliver great results for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration."

Axiom's corporate offices are in Falls Church, Virginia. The firm has offices in Washington, DC; McLean, Virginia; Aurora, Colorado; and around the country.
