Axiom to Host Charity Golf Tournament in Support of Homeless Veterans

Falls Church, Virginia. Professional golfers may be putting away their clubs when October arrives, but friends and supporters of America's veterans will take to the links to raise funds in support of those who served our country. Axiom Resource Management, Inc., will hold a charity golf tournament on Monday, October 6, 2003, at 9:00 a.m. at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, to help the cause of homeless veterans.
Proceeds from the golf tournament will be donated to the U.S. Veterans Initiative, dedicated to providing a solution to homelessness among U.S. veterans. The organization provides outreach, programs for veterans who are parents, and veterans with disabilities. It also offers transitional housing, training programs, and support sessions.
"We're proud to host our second annual benefit golf tournament," said Axiom President Ben Hankins. "Each year, we have the opportunity to reach out to the community and support a great cause."
Last year, more than 75 Axiom employees, friends, and supporters participated in the company's first charity golf tournament, which raised money for the American Legion September 11 Scholarship Fund.
Gerald McCown, Axiom corporate affairs, said he expects to see even more participants this year.
"As Axiom has grown over the past year, so has the number of individuals, organizations, and other businesses who are willing to support us in our charitable efforts," said McCown.
The tournament will begin at the Fort Belvoir Golf Club's North 36 Clubhouse, Woodlawn Course 1. Participants may register as teams of four, or as individuals. Prizes for distinct categories will be awarded to winning teams (and yes, some losing teams!) and to individual players.
In addition, the tournament will offer three sponsorship packages-gold, silver, and bronze-for participants to contribute as a team or individually. Participants and sponsors also are welcome to make donations of any dollar amount.
