Axiom Wins $5 Million TRICARE Contract

Falls Church, Virginia - Axiom Resource Management, Inc., announced today the award of a three-year, $5 million contract to provide program management support to the TRICARE Management Activity (TMA) in Aurora, Colorado.
"This is a major step forward for Axiom," said Axiom Partner Kevin Riley. "TRICARE is one of our most important clients," he continued, referring to the Defense Department's global network of healthcare providers. "The more experience Axiom gains as a company supporting TMA directorates, the better we are able to serve TMA as an organization."
Axiom has long-standing contracts to provide management, technical, and administrative support to most of TMA's directorates. The newest award, from TRICARE's Resource Management Directorate however, expands Axiom's role in that directorate from a three-person team supporting the directorate's Falls Church offices to include 12 new positions supporting the bulk of the directorate's work its Colorado offices.
"Resource Management is the very heart of TRICARE's mission," observed Partner Doug Peardon. Noting that the new contract calls for providing accounting and budgetary support services to the directorate's Contract Resource Division, he added, "This is a lot of responsibility, but managing resources efficiently is what Axiom is all about."
Last year, TRICARE paid $6.2 billion to private sector managed care companies to cover the costs of the network of commercial health care providers they operate. The Contract Resource Management division is the system's financial comptroller, tracking budgetary accounts and outlays and protecting the integrity of the payment and reimbursement processes.
The latest award, covering an eight-month base period and two option years, should ensure that Axiom continues to actively supports the directorate through January of 2005.
