Axiom Selected as a Model Partner by Alexandria City Public Schools

June 1, 2006

Falls Church, Virginia. Axiom Resource Management, Inc., has been selected by the Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) as a 2006 Model Partner, joining the ranks of local businesses recognized for their commitment to helping local schools strengthen the public education system. The award recognizes Axiom's work on behalf of the Mount Vernon Community School (MVCS).

"This award recognizes the contributions of Axiom staff members and the company," noted Axiom volunteer coordinator Maria O'Leary. "We're privileged to have the chance to work with the faculty, staff, and students of Mount Vernon Community School."

Axiom joined with MVCS in October 2004, providing a range of services and support to the school. Axiom provided a speaker for Mount Vernon's Career Night in the fall of 2005. Axiom staff members volunteered to serve as tutors for students who could benefit from the extra attention and donated school supplies, clothing, and other materials. The company's workforce participated in the school's annual Spring Spruce Up and Fun Fair to raise funds for school maintenance and repairs and also donated toys to brighten Christmas for needy students.

The ACPS convenes its annual Business and Community Partnership Breakfast each spring to recognize the local business partners that have helped the schools, students, and families. Axiom's community-business-school partnership was one of 15 programs to receive an award for contributions of time and resources. This year's guest speaker was Andrew Richards, Vice President and Senior Retail Market Manager for Commerce Bank.

Ms. Patricia Gomez, MVCS Volunteer Coordinator, nominated Axiom for the award. She noted that Axiom has been very responsive to the school's needs, stating, "Axiom always came through for us. Their commitment to Mount Vernon Community School has been exemplary, and the people of Axiom have made a very positive impact on our students."
