Axiom Staff Supports National Rebuilding Day in Alexandria
May 2, 2005
Falls Church, Virginia. The dedicated employees of Axiom Resource Management, Inc. woke up with the birds, Saturday April 30, 2005 to get started on restoring local homes for the sixth consecutive year. Mother Nature had other plans.
Every year, the last Saturday in April is National Rebuilding Day. And every year, it seems, the April Showers make their appearance. National Rebuilding Day matches local organizations with homeowners in need of home repair services who are not financially capable of funding repairs themselves. Homeowners, who typically hear about the program through word of mouth, qualify by applying directly to Rebuilding Together Alexandria for assessments.
This Rebuilding Day, Axiom provided 44 volunteers--enough to work on two homes, performing electrical work, landscaping, woodworking, cleaning and painting.
Axiom was assigned one home which needed mainly indoor work, and one whose needs were mainly outdoor-including the requirement for a new porch and shed. Heavy rains on Saturday denied Axiom's outdoor team the opportunity to work-so they simply came back to get the job done on Sunday.
Mother Nature was in a much better mood Sunday, providing a perfect spring day. Shane Oleson, President of Axiom's Keymind Division, was on hand to operate his post digger, as well as to offer unlimited advice on deck building.
"It's a great thing that we can all come together on our free time and give back to the community," said Axiom employee Phyllis Gaglia. "Although we started with rain and mud on Saturday, our people were dedicated enough to come back out another day and ensure that we finished what we started. It's nice to be able to be a part of that," she added.
