Axiom Proudly Supports Christmas in April

April 28, 2003

Falls Church, Virginia. A warm spring drizzle couldn't dampen the spirits of the volunteers from Axiom Resource Management, Inc. who banded together Saturday, April 26th in support of Christmas in April, a charity that sponsors home renovations for low income residents in communities across the nation.

"Awesome," said Eric Edwards, as he surveyed the collection of paint cans, tools, wheelbarrows, and shovels that awaited the willing hands of his Axiom colleagues. "I feel honored and privileged to make this contribution." Edwards, along with Axiom colleague Jennifer Geyer, coordinated Axiom's efforts, assessing the needs of the homes Axiom had selected to work on and making countless trips to local hardware and home improvement stores for necessary supplies.

"Getting the troops together was the easiest part," he continued. "Just ring the bell and these folks come running." As many as 50 Axiom staffers contributed their time and skills to the day- long effort to make basic home repairs and renovations, tackling tasks small and large, from repainting interior walls, and repairing floors and ceilings to rebuilding fences and clearing debris from yards.

A government contractor widely known for its project management expertise, Axiom mustered a diverse workforce for the job: budget analysts turned out be master carpenters, systems engineers painted walls while division presidents sank fence posts for new chain link fencing. Weekday experts in federal procurement regulations were transformed into landscape architects.

Christmas in April is organized by 350 local nonprofit organizations. This year and last Axiom supported the Alexandria (Virginia) Christmas in April, Inc. campaign. The previous two years Axiom had worked with the local D.C. affiliate. Sites are selected by local chapters, and companies participate by organizing volunteers who contribute labor and supplying materials, including paint, fencing, lawn mulch and assorted hardware.

Axiom has a tradition of community involvement, participating in clothing and food drives and providing financial support to local social service organizations. "This company depends on local communities throughout the metropolitan area," said Axiom President and Founder Ben Hankins. "We live here, our children go to schools here, and our clients make their homes here. This is just one effort we're proud to make to return back to these communities the support they've provided Axiom."

Axiom Resource Management, Inc. is headquartered in Falls Church, Virginia with branch offices throughout the country.
