Axiom Wins Contract To Support Military Health System Analysis Office
April 17, 2006
Falls Church, Virginia. Axiom Resource Management, Inc. announced today that it has been awarded a contract to provide advanced analytical support to the Military Health System's (MHS) Office of Business and Economic Analysis (BEA). The three year contract, valued at approximately $3 million, renews the company's current commitment to support this important office.
Health care for MHS beneficiaries is provided at military hospitals and clinics located at U.S. military installations around the world. Beneficiaries also receive care through a network of civilian healthcare providers through the Department of Defense's TRICARE health plan.
"The Department of Defense manages the world's largest unified healthcare system," said Rich Gromadzki, Axiom's BEA project manager. "Our job is to help ensure that senior executives have all the information they need to manage that system." BEA is a small research and development unit in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer of TMA. Axiom's analysts and government counterparts study of healthcare related business and economic, develop the information necessary to support senior executives manage TRICARE.
Each year, TMA collects data on more than 30 million direct care patient encounters and more than 100 million prescriptions that are filled for beneficiaries each year. Axiom's BEA analysts, working in support of their government clients, analyze mountains of raw health care data to identify emerging trends and report anomalies. Armed with top-quality analysis, TMA managers can make better decisions about the most effective means for providing care for beneficiaries.
The office has developed many of the management tools that are now TMA standards. Rich Holmes, a senior Axiom professional, developed the content for TMA's WISDOM training courses, and has contributed significantly to the MHS Data Repository, the Integrated Model for Predicting and Analyzing the Costs of TRICARE (IMPACT).
"We are extremely proud of the work our BEA staff does in support of the MHS mission," said Doug Peardon, Axiom's executive vice president and chief operating officer. "This win represents a vote of confidence in Axiom support, and we look forward to providing ever-improving client support in the years ahead."
