Axiom Wins $3 Million TRICARE Contract

Falls Church, Virginia. Axiom Resource Management, Inc. announced today that it has been awarded a $3 million contract to provide program management and analytical support services to the Acquisition Management and Support (AM&S) Directorate of TRICARE Management Activity (TMA), the program supervising a global network that provides managed healthcare to 8.7 million activity military personnel, dependents, and retirees.
The contract to support AM&S's Office of the Director covers a five-month base period and two option years. If the government exercises both option years, this contract ensures that AXIOM will be supporting the directorate's front office through the summer of 2004.
"Axiom's very first contract," company partner Kevin Riley, "was to provide analytical and program management support to AM&S. Through the years we've acquired the expertise with the DoD 5000 guidelines and the FAR necessary to provide the blue-ribbon service this directorate deserves and demands" he concluded, referring to the Federal Acquisition Regulations and other guidelines governing the Defense Department's procurement of complex systems, from weapons to electronic information technologies.
The AM&S directorate administers TMA's contracts with managed care companies under which networks of healthcare providers, hospitals, and pharmacies are reimbursed for healthcare provided to TMA enrollees. Last year, these managed care support contracts were valued at $13 billion. The directorate also oversees acquisition of critical information technologies that improve communications for providers, beneficiaries, and program managers. Last year, these added $4 billion to the value of the contracts the directorate manages.
