Axiom Thrives in 2002: Poised for More Growth in '03

February 5, 2003

Falls Church, Virginia. Axiom Resource Management, Inc. released a summary of its business activities for the year 2002 today showing the company continued its recent phenomenal growth, winning 38 new contracts worth an aggregate $55 million. According to Frank Cumberland, vice president for communications, marketing and strategic planning, Axiom is poised for more growth in 2003.

"The whole year was a stunning success," said Cumberland, pointing out that two factors were key to Axiom's banner year. "The federal government has a shrinking workforce and an expanding mission. Now, more than ever, the federal government needs help to get the job done for America."

Axiom provides technical experts and program management staff to numerous federal agencies, as well as associations and private sector companies. Axiom's clients include the departments of Defense, State, Energy, and Justice, the Social Security Administration, Federal Aviation Administration, the TRICARE Management Activity, the Reserve Officers Association, the Library of Congress, Oracle Corporation, and Hewlett-Packard.

During the first quarter of 2002, Axiom won six contracts valued at $13 million. The number of awards increased during the second quarter with 11 wins worth just over $6 million. Axiom picked up both the pace of victories and the dollar value of awards during the third quarter, winning 12 new contracts worth $15 million, including an $11 million contract to support anti-AIDS programs in Africa for the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It was Axiom's most successful quarter on record. Axiom continued its tremendous success with nine contract wins in the fourth quarter, with an aggregate value of $21 million.

"All in all, it was a huge year for Axiom," explained Axiom President Ben Hankins. "2002 will stand as the year that Axiom changed from a small, program management consulting firm to a major player in the consulting industry. When federal and private sector leaders need help in the areas of operational support, studies and analysis, web, information technology, accessibility, marketing, and distance learning solutions, they should look to Axiom."

Kevin Riley, Axiom's chief financial officer, focused on the tremendous new capabilities Axiom has developed. "We acquired Conwal Division in 2000, then added the Keymind and Didactics divisions in 2001," he said. "Then, in 2002, we established our Gober Keener Associates division, providing Cabinet-level consultancy services to senior federal managers." He added, "Axiom promises news on further expansions in 2003."

"As bright as 2002 was, we're working hard for even better results in 2003," said Doug Peardon, Axiom's chief operating officer. "Why is sustained growth important to Axiom? Because it's a key factor in attracting and retaining top people. Our employees crave new challenges, and can look forward to great career opportunities as Axiom grows. The future looks bright for Axiom!"
