Axiom Wins Contract To Help Army Enhance Clinical Services

January 16, 2003

Falls Church, Virginia. Axiom Resource Management, Inc. announced it has won a contract to deploy a new software application for the Army Medical Department's Medical Treatment Facilities. The software, known as Composite Health Care System II (CHCS II), is a major step toward establishing the long-awaited electronic medical record. The contract calls for Axiom to support the rollout of the information system, including scheduling software installations for various Army posts and coordinating training.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for us," said Axiom Partner Doug Peardon. "We already work with the Clinical Information Technology Program Office at the TRICARE Management Activity, where Axiom helped contribute to the design, development, and testing of CHCS II. Now we're a part of getting it out to the post hospitals where it can really help our soldiers."

Although this contract is with the Army, CHCS II is intended to benefit all branches of the military. CHCS II is designed as a medical and dental clinical information system that generates and maintain a comprehensive, lifelong, electronic medical record for every military beneficiary. It performs numerous functions, including appointment scheduling, support for general dentistry, management of prescription eyewear orders, and support for standard medical forms.

CHCS II works with other clinical systems supporting the Military Health System to provide a broad range of capabilities. It uses commercially available software, pre-existing government software, and other specially designed products. Axiom will provide the wide-ranging support needed to help Army installations make the most efficient use of CHCS II capabilities. Axiom services will include program management, business reengineering and improvement, strategic planning, policy analysis, communications and marketing, physician informatics, and conference support needed to make the conversion to CHCS II.

Peardon said, "We will work closely with the MTFs to provide group facilitation, interviews, training, and additional activities to ensure knowledge transfer." Partner Kevin Riley commented on the growth potential of the contract. "This current effort is for the Army, but there could be similar opportunities with other military branches in the future. Of course, there are still a lot of Army facilities in line for CHCS II support. Axiom stands ready to support CHCSII expansion, anytime, any place we're needed."

Axiom Resource Management, Inc. is headquartered in Falls Church, Virginia with branch offices throughout the country.
